Boosting the Brain Health of Older Adults
Research points to the effectiveness of effortful learning that combines mental and physical exercise. Exercise is good for the aging brain; emerging research explores the benefits of combining physical and cognitive exercises to sharpen the body and mind. The importance of healthy blood flow to the brain cannot be overstated. Aerobic, strength and flexibility exercises help to bath the vital tissues of the brain with oxygen, glucose and other nutrients.
The goal is to challenge each person’s cognitive deficiencies to stay generally healthy and in good shape. Combining physical and cognitive training shows great promise as a tool to help maximize brain health and function. It may be the next big innovation in the fitness industry as dementia rates continue to rise.
Our wellness team continually researches new ways to improve mental functions for our residents. Set up a meeting with our certified Wellness staff. We can help you reach your health and wellness goals.
